Client Overview

Husnara is a UK-based luxury ready-to-wear fashion brand, offering South Asian-inspired kaftans, coordsets, and 3-piece suits for modern, real-life celebrations. The brand was running on a generic templated store builder with no dedicated backend — so Digital Genei was brought in to design and build a fully custom storefront and admin panel from scratch.

The Technical Challenge

Digital Genei's development audit of Husnara's existing setup identified the structural gaps standing between the brand and a properly scalable, self-managed online store:

#Technical Issue FoundImpact on the Store
01No custom codebase — running on a generic templated store builder with locked-down design controlEvery page looked like a stock theme, with no way to build brand-specific layouts
02No dedicated admin/backend panel built for the businessBasic product and order updates required developer involvement every time
03No responsive engineering pass across product, cart, and checkout templatesLayouts broke or felt cramped on mobile, where most shoppers browse
04Cart, wishlist, and checkout logic bundled into the default template builderClunky multi-step flow with no room to optimise for fewer drop-offs
05Rigid product/category data structure with no schema for new linesLaunching new collections (kaftans, coordsets, suits) meant patchwork rebuilds

The Redevelopment Approach

Digital Genei designed and coded a fully custom e-commerce platform for Husnara — a bespoke storefront paired with a purpose-built backend panel, engineered for both brand presentation and day-to-day operational control.

CUSTOM STOREFRONT
Bespoke Front-End Build
Fully custom-coded, not a template
A ground-up front-end built around Husnara's identity — collection pages, product detail pages, wishlist, and cart, all custom-coded rather than assembled from a theme.
BACKEND PANEL
Custom Admin Dashboard
Purpose-built database & admin logic
A tailored backend with its own product, pricing, and stock management logic — giving the Husnara team full control without a developer for routine changes.
RESPONSIVE ENGINEERING
Mobile-First Front-End
Rebuilt across all breakpoints
Every template — from product listings to checkout — rebuilt mobile-first, so the experience holds up cleanly on the devices most shoppers actually use.
CHECKOUT ENGINEERING
Custom Cart & Checkout Flow
Coded from scratch, fewer steps
Replaced the default builder's checkout logic with a custom-coded, streamlined cart and checkout flow designed to cut unnecessary steps.
SCALABLE SCHEMA
Flexible Product Architecture
Built to add collections on demand
A flexible product and category schema that lets Husnara launch new collections and categories from the backend panel, with no rebuild required.
CHANNEL INTEGRATION
WhatsApp & Email Hooks
Wired directly into the storefront
Direct WhatsApp and email touchpoints coded into the storefront templates, making it effortless for customers to reach the Husnara team before and after purchase.

The New Design Direction

Alongside the custom build, Digital Genei developed new storefront mockups that carry the bespoke, boutique-brand feel through to every page — built on the same component structure that powers the live backend panel.

Newly developed storefront mockups — built on the same custom component structure as the live site, with a clearer visual hierarchy between collections, product imagery, and the cart/checkout path. Both layouts are coded to plug straight into the existing backend panel, so new pages inherit the same product data and styling without extra dev work.

The Technical Results

Since launching the custom-coded storefront and backend panel, Husnara has gone from a locked-down template to a fast, fully self-managed system:

Why It Worked

Husnara proves that a strong product deserves a platform built specifically for it, in code, rather than fitted into a generic builder. By replacing a locked-down template with a fully custom storefront and backend, Digital Genei gave the brand both a premium front-end and the technical independence to run its own store.

🎨
A storefront coded for the brand
Every page was custom-built around Husnara's identity rather than assembled from a template, giving the brand full design control.
⚙️
A backend built for the workflow
The custom admin panel's own product and stock logic means the Husnara team can manage the store directly — no developer bottleneck for routine work.
📱
Mobile-first from the ground up
Rebuilding every template mobile-first, instead of patching the old builder's layout, means the experience actually holds up on a phone.
📈
A schema built to scale
A flexible product and category structure means new collections launch from the backend panel, not a fresh round of development.

What Husnara Said

"

Digital Genei didn't just build us a website — they built us a system. The custom backend panel means I can add new pieces, run offers, and manage every order myself, without waiting on anyone. For the first time, our site actually feels like the brand we set out to build.
